I don't even know where to begin with nominating Tamra. She is one of the best nurses, let alone human beings I have ever had the privilege of knowing. Tamra quickly stood out to my wife and me as an outstanding nurse and her ability to put parents at ease won my wife over almost immediately.
Tamra has been our son's primary nurse since he was born, and she has taken care of him probably 40 nights so far. Every single day Tamra comes into work with a smile on her face and an upbeat attitude. I've seen her getting the report from dayshift nurses and can clearly tell she's getting a mountain of a workload and she bears it without ever showing us if she's overwhelmed.
My wife and I have been fortunate enough to be off work while our baby is in the hospital and have spent nearly every day at the NICU with him. There are dozens of exceptional nurses in the NICU, but if I had to pick just one as a standout, it's Tamra. She has been so wonderful to my wife and me every moment she is with us and caring for our son.
Tamra is incredibly knowledgeable about her profession and so passionate about her job I don't think she could hide it if she tried. I've bragged to her charge nurses and tell everyone I can about how wonderful she is, and I truly hope she knows and gets told how much she is appreciated.
During the most trying time of my life so far, having an angel like Tamra here with us while our son grows and develops has been nothing short of a miracle. I'm so thankful she works where she does so that she can spread her joy and compassion to other parents for as long as she chooses to do this job.
