She took the time out of her chaotic assignment in our bustling emergency department and found outfits in our donation bin to give them, loaded a backpack with sandwiches, juices, and crackers and helped the person clean themselves up.
I have had the greatest privilege of working side by side with Taylor in the emergency department for almost two years. I have never met a nurse quite like Taylor. She is the most compassionate, dedicated, and hardworking nurse I’ve ever come across. I’ve had the honor of watching her grow from a new grad to transforming into the seasoned nurse she is today. She continues to amaze me day in and day out with her extensive nursing knowledge. I’ve watched her care for some of the sickest patients in the hospital. She takes control of a trauma room with such ease and confidence. She is truly incredible.
Although I could go on and on with examples of how Taylor amazes me, one recent example brought me to write this DAISY Award nomination. One evening Taylor was caring for an individual from our community that is suffering from homelessness. The genuine care and compassion Taylor showed this person in our emergency department was outstanding. She took the time out of her chaotic assignment in our bustling emergency department and found outfits in our donation bin to give them, loaded a backpack with sandwiches, juices, and crackers and helped the person clean themselves up. The individual thanked Taylor endlessly and simply said “thank you for being nice to me.” It is so easy to get caught up in the busy-ness and stress of today’s healthcare system but the care that Taylor provided in this example and every day that she steps into our department makes her more than deserving of a DAISY Award.
