Taylor brought warmth, reassurance, and humor to us in our darkest hours.
Taylor was our night shift nurse for 3/4 nights we were admitted to the labor and delivery ward. We were an unexpected transfer from a birth center due to pre-eclampsia and non-reactive fetal heart tones. I was already devastated that I needed to transfer to a hospital where I knew none of the staff and we had already deviated from my birth plan greatly. And then my birth ended in an unplanned cesarean despite my and the team's best efforts. This was a complete 180 from the birth we had prepared for. Taylor brought warmth, reassurance, and humor to us in our darkest hours. She helped us care for our baby when he was inconsolable in the middle of the night. She helped teach us overwhelmed new parents how to swaddle our newborn. She gave us tips on how to soothe him. She went above and beyond to help us get much-needed rest in the middle of the night by keeping our required checks as quiet as possible, keeping the lights dim, and minimizing the number of people who came into our room. I've never had a nurse who was so thoughtful and attentive. What could have easily been an incredibly traumatic experience for us was mitigated by Taylor's incredible care.
