In an era when Patient Satisfaction is so important in the healthcare field, healthcare workers are attempting to ensure the patient is cared for physically while balancing the non-medical needs of the patient and families. Being in the Medical field, I have high expectations of the Patient Experience and can identify when that one Nurse truly gives her all and stands out as providing consistent excellent patient care. Your nurse Teena definitely stands above the rest.
During my stay at your facility, I encountered several staff members that were good, however, Teena wasn't just good, she was exceptional. She wasn't just doing her job; she possessed a passion for healthcare and making a difference in my stay. Skills alone don't make a good nurse, compassion and caring coupled with the desire to ensure your patient is safe and comfortable and doing every interaction with a positive disposition and attitude is where the difference is.
Every single interaction with Teena was professional and positive; she always had an "I am here for you" attitude. She took every opportunity to educate and always had time to listen. She recognized the needs without being asked, a gown that had blood stains from the previous shift was immediately noticed and changed, an extra blanket without being asked, a reminder of the call light coupled with the "please call if you need me, I will be back within the hour, but if you need me before." Never did she come in without referencing the communication board and goals for the day or without asking "What can I do for you?" Nurses have a difficult job and are often stretched between patients; I can tell you that you are very fortunate to have Teena on your team!
The DAISY Award is intended to recognize those nurses who provide extraordinary care; this is Teena! Her professionalism, compassion, and desire to improve a system, a process and her patients stay in UH are evident from the moment you meet her. Her kindness, knowledge, and support during our stay at UH were unmatched. We would simply like to say Thank you, Teena! You are an awesome nurse and truly made a difference in our stay!
