Tegan’s commitment to excellence, innovative mindset, and unwavering support for the nursing staff make her an exemplary leader in the field of nursing information technology.
As the Epic Clinical Documentation Lead, Tegan has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication in improving nursing documentation processes. Under Tegan’s guidance, the nursing Magnet Documentation Task Team has successfully implemented several innovative solutions that have significantly enhanced the accuracy, efficiency, and usability of nursing documentation. These improvements have not only streamlined workflows but also ensured that patient care information is accurately captured and easily accessible, ultimately leading to better patient outcomes.
Tegan has both creative vision and strategic thinking in identifying areas for improvement while leveraging technology to address these challenges. Her collaborative approach to leading our group has fostered a culture of honest communication where all ideas are welcome, no matter how “out of the box”. By actively engaging with nursing staff through the Education Liaison Committee, Nurse Manager Documentation Committee, and countless specialty areas, Tegan has ensured that the solutions developed are practical, user-friendly, and aligned with the needs of frontline nurses in all areas. Notable achievements under Tegan’s leadership have been the retooling of the Daily Cares Flowsheet, Nursing Admission Assessment, Pre-Operative Checklist, revision of the Simple Assessment to support charting by exception, and most recently a complete revamp of wound documentation. These projects involved collaboration with specialty group experts and multiple iterative enhancements, all of which Tegan meticulously planned and executed. As a result, nursing documentation across the organization has become more intuitive, reducing the time nurses spend on administrative tasks and allowing them to focus more on direct patient care. Tegan’s commitment to excellence, innovative mindset, and unwavering support for the nursing staff make her an exemplary leader in the field of nursing information technology. Her contributions have had a profound and long-term impact on our organization, and we believe Tegan is truly deserving of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award.

While preparing for brain tumor certification, Tegan has gone above and beyond in developing reports for our team. She attends every meeting and offers solutions and tips Epic has to support us. Additionally, she created a dashboard that has led to patients getting better navigator care. She is full of grace, never once taking any credit for all the work she has done. She is knowledgeable about our EMR and answers questions with kindness and care, and directs me to the right place. Tegan sends tip sheets and screenshots to help us, even without being asked. Brain tumor care involves complexity and intricacies. The support for these patients comes from dedicated individuals like Tegan, who ensures that we can provide the necessary care. She is instrumental in making things run smoothly for those involved in delivering this care. Brain Tumor Certification was a comprehensive hospital-wide initiative, encompassing everything from bedside to outpatient services. However, it was Tegan and her exceptional EMR assistance that contributed to its success. I am truly grateful for her contributions.
