Teri is first and foremost a fantastic clinician. She has impeccable sterile technique and can find access and place a PICC line in our most difficult patients. Her calm and confident nature puts patients at ease and her remarkable skill allows for a nearly painless procedure. Teri is also a firm and unwavering patient advocate. When troubleshooting complex vascular access issues for patients Teri will collaborate with her Medical colleagues and make recommendations for best practice solutions. Teri uses an expert knowledge base, and great communication skills to make sure patients get the best care possible.

This past year Teri was instrumental in bringing PICC insertion navigation technology to the bedside. Her efforts have eliminated the need for post insertion CXRs for approximately 80% of our patients. Eliminating an extra trip to Radiology not only reduces discomfort and inconvenience for patients, it also adds great efficiency and permits patients to receive treatment sooner.

As a leader, Teri is respected for her work ethic and leads by example. She never seeks attention for herself, and ensures that everyone has what they need to do their work. When there unusually complex patients or families with vascular access issues, Teri is sought out to intervene. Teri will take the tough assignments and will navigate the issues to bring a solution forward.

From equipment and supply management to scheduling and payroll, Teri is a leader that says what she means and does what she says. She is routinely recognized by her fellow PICC nurses for being such a great resource and for how much integrity she displays when managing the schedule, timekeeping and other complexities of her role.

Teri gives 100% every day no matter what! She is everything the DAISY Award stands for and the Vascular Access program is a success because of her leadership and commitment to compassionate and expert care.
