Dr. Ares’s dedication to the students is above and beyond her role as a teacher and CNS Role Advisor.
Dr. Terri Ares earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing, Parent-Child Clinical Nurse Specialist, from California State University, Dominguez Hills. She obtained her PhD in Nursing from Villanova University. During her doctorate degree, she was selected as a Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar (2012-14). Jonas Philanthropies awards this honor to support a pipeline of doctoral students committed to a career as nursing faculty through financial assistance, leadership development, and networking opportunities. Dr. Terri Ares has taught in both undergraduate and graduate programs at California State University, Dominguez Hills since 2007. She is a wonderful asset to the nursing profession and to nursing education.
Dr. Ares’s dedication to the students is above and beyond her role as a teacher and CNS Role Advisor. She is a great mentor for the students and is supportive of them and their endeavors. Her commitment to student success is attested by the School of Nursing 2014 Judith Lewis Educator award and the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists 2015 CNS Educator of the Year award. As a Graduate Program Coordinator, Dr. Ares has consistently performed her duties at an exemplary level over the past 8 years. While handling this challenging job, her tenacity and leadership are well more than recognizable as one faculty member noted “when Terri speaks, I typically listen in awe for I know what she is saying has meaning and direction and she also does so extremely eloquently”.
With her faculty colleagues, Dr. Ares is helpful, caring, resourceful, and happy to offer service no matter the task. She also is a phenomenal resource to faculty and staff. As a result, our junior faculty members look up to her with inspiration and gratitude. Dr. Ares performs above and beyond and offers her expertise to support our university. She is a true champion for our school!
