Theressa takes excellent care of the staff by throwing baby showers, organizing Christmas parties, and celebrating birthdays every month by sending birthday cards and creating a birthday board to celebrate the staff.
Theressa has proven her ability to lead compassionately and fearlessly on many occasions.
When the unit didn't have a manager, Theressa was the one to lead the unit and the ANMs. Under her guidance, the unit remained infection-free, and patient experience scores remained consistent. This is a testament to her hard work and dedication.
It is a rare occasion that you will find Theressa overwhelmed; she does not get flustered easily. She tackles challenges head-on and will consistently find and resolve issues with calm efficiency. Theressa is very knowledgeable about processes and protocols, but rather than telling the nurses what to do, she takes the time to teach them how to find the answer and use critical thinking to resolve their issues. This helps them grow and makes them more confident in their own abilities. Theressa takes excellent care of the staff by throwing baby showers, organizing Christmas parties, and celebrating birthdays every month by sending birthday cards and creating a birthday board to celebrate the staff. Theressa also buys snacks for the staff for mid shift huddles. While doing all these things, she has a firm but fair approach and isn't afraid to hold the staff accountable but will make sure she matches this with kindness. Theressa spends time resolving patient issues even when the patient has been discharged and calls back for assistance. This happens many times, but one occasion was overheard. Not only did she listen patiently to all their concerns, but she also helped them resolve their discharge needs. Theressa advocates for the team by nominating them for Safety awards and Hero awards. She speaks to all members of the team, not just her downline, to maintain a connection for their personal and professional growth. She supports the staff against disgruntled patients and has stepped in on many occasions to advocate for their safety and relieve the staff members when issues become too much.
Theressa is a pleasure to work with, and there isn't enough time to explain every facet of her capabilities, but she wholeheartedly deserves this award.
