As a parent, I really appreciated how he took the time to talk to her on her level and did great starting the IV in the ER and fixing it again on the floor.
My 3 year daughter was pretty sick and needed an IV. Tom came to the ER and spent time talking to her on her own level so she was less scared about getting an IV for the first time. He got her IV and then was called back after she was admitted for another access. Luckily, he was able to get the first one working again so she wouldn't get stuck again. He promised her he would bring back some popsicles the next night he was on because she did so well. Sure enough, the next night he showed up with Popsicles. At that time, she was not feeling good; however, when the meds kicked in, she was so happy about them and asked if the "nice nurse" brought them for her. As a parent, I really appreciated how he took the time to talk to her on her level and did great starting the IV in the ER and fixing it again on the floor. I thought it was awesome that he took the time to bring her Popsicles as he had promised. I know the staff is busy, so it was nice he took the time to come back up. When she was feeling better, she thought it was the coolest thing.
