Making the decision to donate a kidney is both difficult and easy. Knowing a person will live because of an elective procedure is easy, but then there is the wave of questions, apprehension, and second-guessing. This nurse provided me with the perfect balance of support and educational guidance. People often ask: You seem to be doing so well? My answer is: 'because I had a nurse coordinator who anticipated every question, led with compassion, and dealt with a 61-year-old emotional mess at times guy- but bottom line: lived the values of UPMC: kindness, compassion, listening, and respect. While I know I was guided by a team of professionals who 'had me', she always seemed to perfectly 'connect' with me and my family. My kidney may be in California, but my heart and gratitude lie with her and the transplant team. There are countless attention-to-detail aspects of her care delivery (all of which went above and beyond the norm). Thank you for all you do!
