We had a scheduled case in Lutheran Main OR that wasn't able to go until later in the evening. The patient was in ICU with multiple issues, including endocarditis and an EF of 27%. This patient was determined to be high-risk to go to the OR. The main OR did not have another nurse to help provide care for this patient during their time in the OR.
Tiffany stepped up to the plate and arranged to have her kids watched so that she could stay past her shift to help provide care to this patient. Not only did she provide the additional care this patient required, but she also supported her co-workers and helped facilitate a difficult case.
