Tiffany Julian displays Premier's values of respect, integrity, compassion and excellence every day with our patients. Tiffany has such a warm and fun personality. She is able to make a connection with her patients right from the moment she meets them.
One example of Tiffany's excellent nursing skill and her compassion for her patients was when she was caring for an end stage COPD patient. This patient was requiring large amounts of oxygen and Bipap use. The patient and family had been discussing the plan of care with the medical team. The decision was whether or not to choose the hospice and palliative care route. On this day, the family had waited all day at the bedside to talk to palliative care so the patient would not have to make the decision alone. The family waited until about 5 pm and could not wait any longer. Right after they left, palliative care arrived. Tiffany, feeling compassion for this patient and family, ran out of the building to try to find the family. She had no idea where they went or where they had parked. She took off running anyway to see if she could find them and return them to the bedside. She did find them just as they reached the parking garage. She was so out of breath, she could not even speak.
I was leaving work, walking out of the hospital when I saw her walking back with the family. At the time, I had no idea of what she had done and all the effort she had just gone through. Thanks to Tiffany, the family was able to connect with palliative care that day. The decision was made to choose hospice and the patient was transferred the next day.
She goes above and beyond and demonstrates this quality every day on the unit. Tiffany is the epitome of exceptional nursing!
