I have the honor of seeing the remarkable comments from patients about service they received in your department's care, but I just wanted to take a second to share my family's own experience at the emergency room this week.
We took our 4-month old son to Urgent Care for possible dehydration. He had been battling a stomach bug. Urgent Care immediately sent us to the ER for fluids. Within 5 minutes of arriving, our tiny guy was in triage. IV fluids were flowing less than 10 minutes after that. As a mom, there is nothing more frightening than the sight on your infant lying on that big table with needles in his teeny-weeny veins. I want to commend your staff for the comfort they provided me as I was a bit frantic.
The shining star in all of this was our nurse, Tim Hicks. He sat at the end of my son's bed, talking about Teddy bears and baseball. He stayed through the whimpers and gently coaxed him as the fluids continued to flow. That's a big deal to me. I will never forget the compassion he showed. His scrubs were quickly soiled with all sorts of junky stuff from our sick son, but Tim never even scoffed. I'm so very pleased to pass along praise for him. Tim was the one who made our horrifying experience so much more tolerable.
