During the recent winter storm, one of our patients was very concerned about his wife's safety getting home and being able to get out due to the roads being coated with ice. He did voice this concern to his nurse. Seeing how much this distressed him, the next day, Timmie, with her husband, drove into town where the patient lived and cleared his driveway for him so he wouldn't have the added stress of worrying about his family and their safety impeding his recovery. The fact of the matter is, I cannot say that I was surprised to hear this from him when he and I were discussing his stay. He was so appreciative of her and stated that she was absolutely phenomenal and he couldn't thank her enough. This is not an uncommon thing for Timmie to do. She always goes above and beyond for her patients. She advocates for them in the most professional manner that I have witnessed. She is also methodical (in a good way) about their care, taking all aspects into consideration as well as all potential differentials. Timmie handles urgent situations calmly and does her best to ensure events progress as smoothly as possible. She also takes on a lot of educating our new staff, interns, and students. She makes such an enormous impact on our team that I don't think she even realizes it. We are beyond blessed to call her one of ours!!
