I have worked with Tom Conrad in the ICU for the last 2 years and have enjoyed every interaction with him. I have witnessed him go "above and beyond" for patients and co-workers alike. More often than not he stays late in order to help out the next shift or stays over to settle a very critical patient.
When he cares for his patients, his is very knowledgeable and knows how to word things so that patients can easily understand the complication or diagnosis and he is quite the team player. You can bet that he will be behind his staff (as a supervisor) or his co-workers (when working as an RN) to help whenever unstable or difficult situations arise. In fact, he commonly is willing to help out others even if he barely has the time to do such.
I can tell you that he is a fantastic teacher or preceptor to our new employees starting in ICU and I feel that he goes out of his way to offer the best orientation experience for the orientees. I have often told him that he should've been a teacher because he is fantastic at teaching anything ICU to anybody.
Additionally, I know that if I work with Tom, I can always ask him for help or advice at any time. Lastly, Tom truly is such a positive person and has made me laugh even in the worst conditions. I would almost call him "jolly". I truly feel that he has to be in the top 1% of our nurses here in the hospital and one of the best in our ICU! Tom is one of the best nurses I have ever been able to work with.
