Her actions showed commitment to her nursing practice and patient experience along with the core values of caring.
We have a patient who desperately needs his porta Cath replaced as he is a home health care and requires multiple medications due to his complex medical history. The father of the patient's QID had expired along with the patient's QID. However, she worked on getting a medical report, having it printed and translated to be able to send the report to HMC, to obtain a "grace period" of treatment, along with a letter to the father's employer to help renew his QID. Once all the paperwork and the grace period extension were placed, she spoke to the IR coordinator and attendings along with the anesthesia and helped arrange for an ICU bed. So, the patient can have his procedure done during the short time period that Sidra would cover for the patient's procedure. The father was in tears and beyond thankful. Every time the father comes to Sidra asks for her as he knows she listens and helps along with going above and beyond. Her actions showed commitment to her nursing practice and patient experience along with the core values of caring. She collaborated with multidisciplinary team, and demonstrated accountability, taking on the next extra load of obtaining the medical record report and sending them to the appropriate person. Her actions empower staff members as she exhibited both empathy and dedication to the best outcome for the patient and his family.
