I nominate Tonya for the DAISY Award for outstanding nursing care given to a patient many others may have struggled to care for. This particular patient had many medical and behavioral issues that we do not normally see on our unit. Despite this, Tonya was able to show compassion and understanding for a patient in a difficult situation. She went above and beyond for this patient by helping her order dinner, validating her emotions, and comforting her throughout the night. While the patient may not have had the capacity to thank her, I felt she should be recognized for the extraordinary amount of time and care she put in for this patient. It has been a pleasure to work with her, and I look forward to watching her continue to grow and flourish as a nurse.
