She goes above and beyond to ensure patient satisfaction and safety, as well as our staff. She anticipates the needs of our unit and staff to make sure that we are the best place in Denton County to have a baby.
I would like to nominate Tracy Guzzardo for her nursing excellence and nominate her for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. Tracy is an Extraordinary Nurse and person. Tracy is a highly skilled, extremely knowledgeable and compassionate team player. She pays attention to every staff member. She knows their kids' names down to their fur babies. She makes herself available 24/7 to her staff. She has come in at 2 am to help if we had a baby born. Last year, our staff went through a very difficult situation with losing a patient—Tracy followed up with everyone on the unit to ensure that everyone was being taken care of mentally. She goes above and beyond to ensure patient satisfaction and safety, as well as our staff. She anticipates the needs of our unit and staff to make sure that we are the best place in Denton County to have a baby. Four years in a row, we have won this award because of the amazing leadership behind it. This includes Tracy, the woman deserves a gold medal for all that she does all the time for our staff and patients.

I could not think of a better nurse leader to recognize than Tracy Guzzardo, The examples of her excellence are endless. From the first time I met her during my job interview, and specifically choosing MCL Mom Baby because of the teamwork and leadership she exemplified, to hearing another nurse’s story of interviewing at another hospital, where she was told to choose MCL over their own organization if she’d be working for Tracy, her reputation speaks for itself. Through practice and policy changes, remodeling, understaffed days, and more, Tracy always serves as a rock for not only Mom Baby, but L&D as well. She attends countless meetings fighting for our nurses and patients. She works closely with other unit leaders, hospital leaders, providers, and more to ensure the best care and safety for all of us—staff and patients. She works hard day and night, checking in and supporting us near and far. Time and time again, staff members have stated how much they love working here because of what a wonderful manager Tracy is, including myself, as I choose to drive 3 ½ hours from my home base to work for such a well-led and supported team. This also speaks to Tracy’s nursing skills. She knows the qualities our team needs to run successfully and only chooses the best additions. The morale she creates and maintains is unbeatable. Aside from her managerial duties, Tracy is quick to jump in on Mom Baby or L&D in whatever role is needed. Whether it’s as floor nurse, nursery nurse, in the O.R. or in a circumcision, she never hesitates to assist. She genially cares for each of her team members and patients. We all love what we do and show up with a smile, largely due to Tracy Guzzardo.

Tracy absolutely deserves this award the most. She is a strong nurse, a strong leader, a strong patient advocate, and a strong resource. She hand selects the BEST people to work on our unit, and it speaks volumes to her knowledge as an excellent nurse, as she is able to see in others the qualities necessary to provide the kind of care that gets us voted the best place to have a baby and best patient experience. She puts out fires before they even start, and if she walks into one, she cleans it up and assures everyone’s safety and that everyone learns from mistakes. She doesn’t complain, she jumps into all sorts of miscellaneous roles, and goes above and beyond to ensure our staff and our patients are treated as they should. She loves her staff and all of our patients. These are two examples of how much she means to me, as I know she does to my peers. I choose to drive 4 hours one way to work under the best leader; because of Tracy and the team she has built. She ensures patient and nurse satisfaction, and goes above and beyond to care for us all. I want to be her when I grow up.

Tracy has been the leader of Mom Baby for many years and her experience and adaptability to changes in healthcare is beyond valuable. She is a true leader and an incredible multitasker. Tracy is available to me, every staff member, and every provider 24/7. We have shared so many brainstorming sessions! She knows that excellent patient care comes from excellent compassionate staff.
