She obviously cared deeply for my husband. Tyla became like family. I wanted to hug her hello and goodbye. Every day, her knowledge and skills were evident.
Coming down from the ICU was an extremely stressful moment in my time here. I had a countless number of nurses and aides to the point that I was stressed out. I found out that I was moving units and felt like everything was happening at once. When I met Tyla and found out she was going to be my nurse, I could see what an exceptional woman and nurse she was that I stopped crying (I have had many nurses with my many hospitalizations). She is by far the best! She truly cared about me and taught me important life lessons having to do with my health. She taught me the importance of drinking water to where I will change my lifestyle with the many other lessons she taught me. She is super sharp and her knowledge on so many levels is incredible! I have been blessed to have her as my nurse, and I hope you recognize how lucky you are to have her a part of the RUSH family. If she leaves, wherever her new home will be, they will be so lucky to get her. However, it will be your loss to lose her.
Thank you, Tyla! For all that you are and all that you give.

It gives me great pleasure to nominate Nurse Tyla, a nurse on 9N, which was the floor my husband was on for over a week. My husband was not very independent so he required a lot more support than the norm. Tyla was very supportive, beyond the call of duty, and helped him navigate his medical situation. Through it all, Tyla was there, working tirelessly and diligently, helping my husband and me understand issues and ramifications. She patiently explained things to my husband, sometimes more than once, until he got it. Of utmost importance to her was my husband's comfort; she always checked in prior to leaving the room to make sure he was ok. Then, she would ask me if I required anything to make my visit more comfortable. Tyla was also concerned about me as my husband’s main caregiver. She was able to relate to my position of the spouse as she lamented about her illness and how supportive her husband had been. I found his illness at times to be an emotional and exhausting rollercoaster ride because there were other staff members that were not as caring for my husband’s needs. I felt a sense of comfort when I was told Tyla was his nurse. I knew all his needs would be cared for in a professional manner, and she would go beyond the call of duty to take care of her patient. There were times when she was at the end of her shift, and she stayed to complete some orders from the doctor. She obviously cared deeply for my husband. Tyla became like family. I wanted to hug her hello and goodbye. Every day, her knowledge and skills were evident. As my husband would talk about his day with Tyla, he would always say, “There’s a difference in how my care is carried out when I have Tyla.” Some people get into the healthcare field because they have the knowledge to excel, and they lack the compassion for the patient and the family. Then there are those in healthcare field like Nurse Tyla who has the knowledge and the compassion that places her patients in a position to heal physically and emotionally. Tyla’s tireless, devoted, and skilled passion for my husband's well-being made a huge impression on me. She stood out as a nurse who was willing and able to go beyond the normal call of duty in every encounter.
We would like to thank Rush for hiring Tyla, a true Nurse who gave 100% to my husband every day she worked with him.
Thank you, Tyla! For all that you are and all that you give.
