Tyler stayed long after the rest of the team left, to make sure I knew what needed to be documented and how to complete it accurately.
I was working as the relief charge nurse for my unit 2-East. This shift was particularly difficult because we were managing multiple patients with high acuity and the staff was striving to keep up with the influx of admissions. Tyler visited my unit and checked on our most worrisome patient throughout the entire shift. It made me feel like I had someone to rely on who was checking on me throughout the night.
I had a Code Blue on a newly admitted patient at 6 AM. Tyler was the first responder, helping the patient and the entire team. He ensured that everything required, was written down as the recorder of the code event and that all the information was documented correctly. Unfortunately, the patient passed away, but Tyler stayed long after the rest of the team left, to make sure I knew what needed to be documented and how to complete it accurately. He explained all the different sections of the form in a way that was kind and reassuring. I felt very comfortable asking him for help. He made a very emotional shift so much better for me. I am so thankful he is part of our team and there to help those who need extra assistance. We all experience rough shifts, and it only takes one person, like Tyler to turn the situation around. Tyler is great at his job.
