She walked in during this moment and really reassured me of how good their team was, and she listened to everything that was going on, and even some personal things that were happening in my life. She really felt more like a friend that I needed at that time.
I was very nervous about my son's procedure, and she was so helpful and knowledgeable about everything and really took her time to thoroughly explain how everything would work. She kept good conversation with my son knowing that he was pretty nervous as well, asking him all types of topics and what he enjoyed to really keep his mind off of things and calm his nerves a bit. When they were almost ready to take my son back, I got overwhelmed and couldn't help crying while trying not to let my son see. She walked in during this moment and really reassured me of how good their team was, and she listened to everything that was going on, and even some personal things that were happening in my life. She really felt more like a friend that I needed at that time. Sometimes, it's hard being a mom who "does it all," and a listening ear and reassurance that my child is in great hands was all I needed. In one of the last conversations we had, I was telling her that I needed to grab Tylenol and Motrin for my son once they were done with the procedure, and she told me she would go price-check them for me. When she returned, she had a bag that was stapled shut that she handed to me and said this is for you. I said thank you and set it to the side, because they had come to take my son out of the room right behind her. Once they all left, I took a look in the bag, and she had gone and purchased the medicine for me... and I just couldn't believe how kind this woman was! I had to sit in the room for a while, and I noticed the DAISY Award sign and knew I needed to nominate her. I've never had someone so kind and caring in a medical setting, and it was truly what my son and I needed that day. I'm so grateful we were able to have her during this experience.
