Valerie was so kind and made sure all my mother’s needs were met. If my mom was having trouble with a situation, Valerie would come up with a solution. She went above and beyond to move us to a room so my mom and I would sleep better and we did! I am so grateful for all that Valerie did for us!!

Valerie is an exceptional nurse! She exemplifies the core values of nursing. One day, my pain was out of control with the meds that had been ordered. Valerie advocated for me by making multiple phone calls, following up, and working with the interdisciplinary team. She was able to get me comfortable with the new medication regimen. Valerie genuinely cares for her patients, and it shows! Valerie is professional, compassionate, caring, communicative, and dedicated to her patients well being! Valerie was very attentive in her nursing care and went out of her way to locate a more suitable chair for my husband to use. This allowed him to spend the duration of my hospital stay at my bedside.

I have worked with her for over a decade and she has exemplified the compassion and humankindness we all want to experience as a patient or a family member. Her compassion, experience, and knowledge continue to be an asset to our organization. It is an honor to present this award to a Nurse like Valerie who has touched the lives of so many people in the walls of this hospital, not only patients and families. She has impacted both nurses and support staff with her ability to lead as charge nurse and a nurse preceptor with her experience and knowledge.
