I would like to recognize Nurse Vicente Lebrilla for his excellent care. My family and I have been moved by Vicente's compassion and kindness during his care of our 87-year-old mother, who has been a patient in the Southeast unit for almost a month now. He has provided quality, patient-centered care guided by respect and consideration for our mother and our family. We are truly grateful for his service and hope he is acknowledged for his exceptional work and caring demeanor.
Our mother was transferred from the ED to the Southeast unit, and nurse Vicente was the receiving nurse. He warmly greeted our mother with a smile and introduced himself. He made our mom feel at ease when we were all anxious about her state of health. Vicente carefully positioned my mother onto her bed and kindly oriented us to her room. He made sure she knew how to use the call bell whenever she needed assistance. He included the family and asked us if we had any questions or concerns. We explained to him that our mother is usually accompanied by a family member, especially at night, because she gets anxious, and we requested that she be able to have someone at her bedside during her stay.
Vicente understood our concern and conveyed our request to the nursing supervisor. Consequently, our request was accepted, which has been a huge help and source of support for our mom during her hospitalization. We value Vicente's empathy and advocacy for our mom, which are hallmarks of an excellent nurse.
Vicente has exceptional communication skills. He communicates in a caring, culturally sensitive way that makes our mother and our family feel comfortable and included in her care. He thoroughly explains our mom's condition and plan of care, is always happy to clarify things for us, and is open to all of our questions and concerns. His kind nature and warm communication style have earned my mother's and our family's trust. In turn, we feel like she is in good hands and is receiving the best care.
Vicente is a very thoughtful and hands-on nurse. He always makes sure that our mother is comfortable in her space. He is always on time to reposition and turn her. He provided a sofa chair so that she can have a comfortable place to sit when she is able to sit upright. Before he leaves, he cleans up her bedside table and rearranges chairs to leave optimal space for my mom and her visitors. Lastly, he always reminds our mother to use her call bell anytime she needs assistance.
Vicente is a considerate nurse who not only cares for his patients but also their family members. He has been a great support for our family as we navigate these uncertain times with our mother's health. All of us have felt his empathy and sympathy as he validates our concerns and emotions. He is always ready to answer our questions and advocate for our concerns as family members to the healthcare team. He has been an excellent nurse and is truly an asset to his hospital.
