Vicky's kindness didn't stop there; on her days off, she visited my mom, bringing fresh flowers from her garden and sharing stories.
I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for an extraordinary nurse who made a profound impact on my mother's final days. My mom had been battling ST4 metastatic endometrial cancer, and she was admitted to SHC Tri-Valley due to severe vomiting and an inability to eat. It was during this difficult time that we learned her condition had worsened, and her oncologist shared the heartbreaking news that her journey of treatment was coming to an end.
Despite the devastating news, my mom faced her reality with remarkable grace. We decided that she would transition to comfort care once her son and his family arrived from the U.S. While waiting for them, the medical team ensured her comfort, but one nurse stood out among the rest - Vicky. My mom has always had a passion for music, and it was a beautiful coincidence that Vicky shared this interest. During her night shifts, Vicky took the time to entertain my mom, engaging her with hula dancing, singing, and playing instruments. She brought her own speaker and even dressed up in costumes for both of them. Their joyful singing sessions brought light and laughter to my mom's days, turning a difficult time into cherished memories.

These moments lifted my mom's spirits and filled her heart with happiness, even as she faced the end of her life. Vicky made my mom's journey colorful and meaningful, creating a lasting bond that our family will forever treasure. We are incredibly grateful for Vicky's compassionate care, not just for my mom but for our entire family. She has demonstrated what it truly means to be a caregiver, and we cannot thank her enough for the love and support she provided during such a challenging time.
