In the 4 ½ years that I have worked with Vicky, she's taught me compassion, patience, and how to provide extra care to patients. I have seen her share tears, laughs, and go above and beyond with her care for our patients and families.
One patient and his wife were starting to become frustrated because the patient had been admitted to the hospital for many days and they felt as though the patient was not getting better. Ms. Vicky went above and beyond in caring for them. She calmed them down and the wife even stated, "If I could bottle Ms. Vicky up I would because she is just one wonderful nurse!" Vicky was able to make them feel special, even though she was busy with her other patients.
I've seen patients come and visit our unit after leaving just to say hi to her, tell her how they are doing since being out of the hospital, and how her care and advice made a difference in their lives! I've heard her ask other staff and doctors, "What else can we do to help our patient?" I have also seen patients who were readmitted ask for Ms. Vicky to be their nurse!
