During the last few weeks, our unit has encountered some anomalies that left staff and leadership strained. Wanda never assumed leadership could handle it. She quickly (her little legs go fast!!) came into the unit for back-to-back RRTs and assisted staff, then assisted me, the unit leader. I was grateful for her assistance and advocacy. This is not unusual for Wanda. Wanda fully supports staff, makes frequent rounds, and is the hands and feet of our leaders when we aren't in-house. When I'm not here, I know my staff are watched over as they frequently report her assistance and support. Regardless of whether or not leaders are in-house, she makes it a point to travel to each unit and offer support and assistance. I think Wanda is overdue for the DAISY Nurse Leader Award for her hard work and dedication to UPMC Carlisle.
