Wanda Griffin is one of our valued Emergency Room Charge Nurses. Wanda assisted with coordinating the care for a patient transferred from a neighboring skilled nursing facility.  The patient was in an unstable condition and deteriorated quickly.  Wanda recognized this patient from previous visits and remembered his wife also resided in the same skilled nursing facility.  She phoned the facility to request the staff obtain an order from the physician to allow the wife to come say goodbye to her husband as his prognosis was poor.  The patient's wife and family were able to be present at his time of death due to Wanda's caring actions. Wanda was nominated by her colleagues who now say they are inspired to make the effort to include patient family members during such critical times.
