The most difficult challenge a person must face is losing a spouse. My husband is a dentist, his comfort zone is to instruct others, but Wanda Watt, RN was amazing. She was respectful (always called him Dr. L), she was sensitive to his dignity, knew his needs before he did. Wanda encouraged me every time she came to the house, trusted me to drain his pluravac as needed, but was always available to discuss his condition.
My family felt Wanda was one of us. She spoke to each of my adult children with kindness and thoughtfulness. She listened carefully to all their concerns and questions. More importantly, she preserved my husband's dignity. During all the snow in January, Wanda even traveled in the snow and ice to admit R into hospice care. I will forever be grateful for the care given by CRMC Hospice Nurse, Wanda.
