One story of how Welela impacted our two week stay in the hospital is not the reason I am nominating her for the DAISY Award. It is her constant attention to every detail that would help me recover. It is the way she explains each and every medication as she administers it. It is the way she encourages me to set a realistic goal each day to aid my own recovery. It is the smile she gives me every time she enters my room. It is in the way she reports to the physicians what she has observed and her concerns about my condition. It is the way she makes my wife and me feel as she exudes strength, compassion and respect.
