My husband was taken ill on an overnight stopover in Lake Charles. I was completely alone, my tour party having moved on. Wendy made herself known to me and over the first weekend, she phoned every day, visited me and brought me food. The following week her care for me increased with daily visits and gifts. She took me for meals in restaurants, invited me to her home where I met her whole extended family and ate a wonderful meal. When my daughter joined me, she opened her heart again. She gave us lifts, moved us from one apartment to another and checked out locations for us. Now that we are going back to the U.K., after over three weeks, we are taking back multiple gifts to remind us of our stay in Lake Charles, all because of Wendy and her family. She has visited my husband every day, even on her off days, as have many members of her family. While many residents have offered us unbelievable hospitality, Wendy has been outstanding. She and her whole family will be our life long friends.
