Wendy also took the initiative to visit with the patient's daughter the night after this discovery to inform her of the progress, even though she had a different patient assignment.
Wendy did an outstanding job caring for a patient's mother. She was truly compassionate, dedicated, and an exceptional nurse. Wendy took the time to thoroughly consider the root cause of this patient's presumed "panic attacks." She identified the medical issue and was able to report it to the physician, obtain orders, and enhance the patient's outcome. Wendy also took the initiative to visit with the patient's daughter the night after this discovery to inform her of the progress, even though she had a different patient assignment.

Wendy is a new RN who began her career only six months ago. It is commendable that she took the time to critically analyze this patient's scenario rather than simply assume that the patient was elderly and prone to panic attacks. Wendy truly exemplified our core values of dignity, compassion, and excellence.

Wendy's Charge Nurse also praised her, not just for this incident, but for how she presents her personal best every day with calm and grace. Wendy is already a role model for our new RNs and a valuable resource during her night shift. In addition to the above, I am genuinely grateful to have Wendy on the team. On many occasions, she has stepped in to cover a call-off or signed up for extra shifts to assist. Furthermore, her diligence in ensuring that all the equipment is functioning properly is commendable; if it is not, she proactively enters a service request.
