You care for so many patients, I know you will not remember us at all. But I still had to send my family's deepest thanks for how you cared for my 92-year-old dad last week during his final night and passing early Wednesday morning. Your professionalism, knowledge, and genuine compassion that final night was unbelievably amazing. My brother and I and our sweet mom were in the room all night. Your compassionate description of how Dad's body was failing as his blood pressure dropped truly helped us cope and understand. And around 3:00 AM you gently explained that the lack of urine meant his kidneys had already pretty much shut down.
You will never know how much that helped my brother and I accept the reality of Dad's situation. And it gave us peace about possibly having to make the decision to shut the machines off. Thankfully, we didn't have to make that call as Dad passed quietly on his own around 6:30 AM.
At one point in the middle of the night when we were having to make some medicine decisions, you even shared your own personal experience of caring for your mother in the hospital after her stroke. Your compassion in those moments touched us beyond belief.
So Whitley, we just want you to know that you were the perfect Angel for our family that final night with our amazing dad. I'm sure you have touched so many other lives, just like you did ours. You are one amazing nurse and caregiver. Don't you ever stop! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
