Wilma Cline practices in Clinical Operations and is being honored with the DAISY Award for going above and beyond for the patients and families she cares for.
Wilma was nominated by her director when she heard what kindness Wilma exhibited toward a particular patient. The patient was going to be discharged from Labor & Delivery and didn't have any clothes to wear home. They were going to send her home in a hospital gown until Wilma, deciding that wasn't right and stepped in. Wilma called her own mother to bring some clothes to the hospital so this patient would have something to wear home.
The patient said her blood pressure was too low and she even had to have a blood transfusion so she was in and out and doesn't remember much. But she does remember that Wilma was very caring and kind, especially in her situation. She had a miscarriage so she only had the clothes she was wearing when admitted. "Just the thought of her helping me or trying to help me with that," the patient said, "I think she deserves the award."
Wilma's director also said, "Wilma gives so much of herself to her work. She is consistent and reliable, always striving to be the best! She is considerate, helpful, and hardworking! She's the best cook and we love her chocolate cake!!"
Because of Wilma's compassionate and caring efforts, her patients experience a level of care that exemplifies the impact nurses have in creating an environment where patients and families feel at home.
