On her arrival as my nurse this morning, she came in with a big smile and introduced herself. By noticing something was bothering me, she continued to ask questions pertaining to me and my situation. Upon getting the information and checking my vitals, she gave me assurances things would be better. Witnie took it upon herself to keep me informed and if she didn't have an answer she found the right person.
The doctor was going to discharge me a day early, but I wasn't comfortable with getting in and out of bed. Witnie taught me the proper way and made sure I was doing everything correctly. I couldn't have done it without all of her assistance. She is very compassionate about taking care of her patients and very deserving of this award. I feel very fortunate for having her as one of my nurses and I will never forget her.
Through Nurse Witnie's actions, it is apparent that nursing is much more than just a job to her. She always "walks that extra mile" to insure she provides the absolute best-possible health care. Nurse Witnie's exceptional dedication and professionalism are truly deserving of the DAISY Award.
