I am an ICU nurse at a different hospital, and my father-in-law had an accident that landed him in the neuro ICU in Midland. The first day we were all there, we had Wrae as our primary nurse. She went above and beyond normal standards of care. Even though my father-in-law was sedated and intubated, she continued to talk to him and treat him with kindness and compassion as she cared for him. She made sure she was on top of all the different pain meds, drips, labs, and imaging studies. She kindly made an exception & let all immediate family in his room to comfort each other and him. She also respected my mother-in-law's wishes to have a pastor come to bless our father-in-law. When he had to get rushed for emergency surgery for the second time, she kindly and compassionately handled all the emotions of family members and answered question after question. She provided top-notch care all while training a nurse extern (who was also amazing), managing another patient, and a tight-knit, large family. She even came back the next day when she wasn’t working on the unit to check on my father-in-law. We will NEVER forget the kindness Wrae showed our family as we navigated a life-changing event. She deserves recognition for all she does!
