Mrs. Yasmin demonstrated extraordinary empathy and support while caring for a baby whose mother was unwell. The mother was frustrated and had an unpleasant experience; she was admitted to third-floor wing B, and her baby was admitted to third-floor wing C. The family wasn’t available, and no one was available to support the mother with her sick baby. The mother moved to Riyadh recently, and she didn’t know anyone to seek help and support. The mother had to do a procedure, and her baby has an out peripheral cannula and should be changed to continue the treatment. She found the mother crying and helpless. She went above and beyond her scope and acted like a family member, she emotionally supported the mother, held her hand, and wiped her tears. She promised the mother that the X-ray would be done and the cannula would be inserted. The Chest X-ray was postponed for one hour to stabilize the situation, and later, it was done. She inserted the cannula from the first prick and cuddled the baby like she was cuddling her daughter. Not only did Yasmin provide excellent nursing care and management, but she also went above and beyond by orchestrating the transfer of the mother from the unit she was admitted to the unit where her son was admitted so that she united them in the same unit. She demonstrated a strong commitment to ensuring the well-being and emotional connection of both the baby and his mother, where she exemplified the real meaning of our hospital motto, “Caring like Family.” Her compassionate actions have undoubtedly made a difference for the mother since she nominated her for The DAISY Award.  Yasmin’s dedication to patient care is a shining example of the outstanding healthcare professional at our institution, where she embodies the qualities of a DAISY Nurse.
