I am currently at the end of my Endocrinology fellowship with MUSC. As a part of our fellowship curriculum, we split our time between MUSC and the VA. At the VA our responsibilities include overseeing the inpatient service, as well as our own Endocrine clinics. Between our required duties at MUSC and the VA, it can be extremely challenging to manage patient responsibilities at all sites. I wanted to reach out to you and let you know these burdens were greatly relieved because of the hard work of Yolanda Gibbs. Our clinics at the VA are extremely busy. It runs similar to a primary care office in the fact that we have many long-term patients that we may see as frequently as every three months. Most patients have numerous labs associated with their cases, as well as various specialized Endocrine procedures that need to be scheduled and performed. There is no way all of these tasks would be accomplished, or I would have been able to run such a successful clinic without the assistance of Yolanda. I am very confident that my colleagues would echo the same sentiments. Yolanda is one of the most outstanding nursing staff I have had the privilege of working alongside. She truly cares about the wellbeing of our patients. I'm frequently reminded of this as our patients are constantly complimenting the excellent care they receive form her. She is extremely meticulous and well organized. I never have to worry about anything being overlooked because she is always on top of everything. My fellowship experience at the VA would not have been as pleasant and successful had it not been for Yolanda. I would happily hire her as my nurse without hesitation at any future job I work.
