I came into Boswell today and was admitted with Diverticulitis. I was taken from the ER to my room just as the evening shift was coming on.  I was in a lot of pain and was feeling very overwhelmed and stressed. I was quite uncomfortable and while this nurse was getting me settled into my room, he had to ask me many routine questions.  I feel kind of bad because in the 10 or 15 minutes he needed, I asked him for multiple things and asked him many questions.

If I had been the nurse, I would have been annoyed at myself, but he was incredibly kind and compassionate, as well as very helpful.  He's patient and was very calming when I felt anxious. The hospital is the last place I want to be, but he has absolutely made my stay as comfortable as possible including calling a doctor to request pain meds, all while remembering I mentioned in my lengthy conversation that I suffer from bad insomnia, and he even asked for a prescription for that so I might get a bit of sleep.  Genuine, good care, compassion, and kindness often get put on the back burner in busy times.  This nurse was busy, but he made me feel like he would still be around all night. Should I need anything, he checks on me.

In today's health care arena, as a patient, I believe all nurses should strive to be so kind.  I think Boswell is blessed to have him, and I wanted someone to know! Thank you!
