"My most favorite thing about direct patient care was when I worked in the acute care setting. I enjoyed interacting with the patient and family as a unit to plan out the patient's care with everyone who would be involved in making sure health care goals were met. This is also my favorite thing about what I do now as a Care Coordinator for the Home Tele-Health Program."
-Yvette Demps, BSN, RN
Yvette has been a member of the Atlanta VA Medical Center for over 20 years, currently serving as a Home Tele-Health Care Coordinator. She lends her expertise in the capacity of Chairperson over the Performance Improvement Committee for the Home Tele-Health Program. She is also a member of the scrap book committee for the Home Tele-Health Program, National Nurses United, and Chi Eta Phi Sorority Inc. During her free time, Yvette enjoys reading books, hanging out at the beach, meeting new people, travelling, and being around family and friends.
A veteran under her care expressed his gratitude to Yvette and wrote: "I have been a patient in the Telehealth program for 2 years now. When I first started, my health was a mess. My blood sugar, blood pressure, and pain level were all out of control. With the help of Yvette, my health has improved a great deal. She takes care of me like I am her only patient but I know that is not true. She is always there when I need advice, checks up on me, discusses the numbers I call in, makes sure I have all my medicine, and also taking it as scheduled. When I need advice, Nurse Yvette is more than helpful. One thing I really like is being able to talk about all of my health problems. Also, my doctor is contacted when I need help with a problem. She always asks me how I am feeling that day. I just want to say Yvette is the best and I love her! I thank the VA for this program and I encourage every veteran to participate in the program. Thank you Yvette!"
