Yvette has this fire and determination that cannot be ignored. She does not shy away from a challenge, and she always pushes herself outside of her comfort zone.
After sharing the DAISY Foundation's video, "What is The DAISY Foundation?" our CNO stated, "I think you can all connect with this video and understand why the DAISY Award is so beautiful. When The DAISY Foundation started to shed light on what nursing does, they found that there was a subset of nursing that also takes a really unique skillset, and that is a Nursing Leader. What you do every day does not impact just a moment in someone's life but really can really impact the trajectory of the care they receive for years to come. It is my honor to recognize Yvette as our DAISY Nurse Leader.

I had a very difficult time putting my words together for this recognition; I feel like I couldn't do Yvette justice. She’s not only being recognized for an accomplishment, or one that she has done, she's being recognized for who she is as a leader. There is something that is special about Yvette. Those of you who get to work alongside her know exactly what I'm talking about. You see, Yvette has this fire and determination that cannot be ignored. She does not shy away from a challenge, and she always pushes herself outside of her comfort zone. I remember when Yvette became the Director of Women's Services, talk about being pushed outside of your comfort zone. I always knew she could do it but let me tell you; I underestimated this woman. She has far exceeded our expectations from day one. In her most challenging of moments, her leadership is unwavering. She leads with a calm and steady presence that helps ground us and her team; she leads by example, and she shows us what it means to be strong, to be resilient, and to be consistent."

One of her colleagues wanted to share some words, “I have had the honor of not only working with but befriending Yvette for eighteen years now. Although her face may not always show it, she is the kindest and the most caring soul you will ever meet. Our bond goes deeper than that though; she was the nurse in my daughter’s STAT delivery. It was scary and chaotic, but the one thing I remember is her immediately coming to me and saying, "She is okay!" In the midst of chaos, she knew that as a patient and as a mother, I needed that. That is Yvette; she always remembers what is important to the patient. I have worked with her at the bedside, we were ADON’s together, and then I had the honor of being her leader as a DON. Let me tell you, Yvette is one to set the standard of excellence and it shows day in and day out as she leads her team through tough times and great joys.”
