My husband was recently in the ICU for a combination of multiple viruses and infections. During our three-week stay, Zakary went above and beyond to invest in my husband's care. Zakary was called in to start my husband's dialysis on the second day of his admission. Over the next three days, he spent his entire shift in the room. Our family watched him constantly use his expertise to monitor J’s medications and vitals. He would adjust medications as needed and request additional blood test orders. He made hourly calculations to best serve my husband. Even through my husband's intubation and sedation, Zakary acted as if he was alert and worked with us to get to know him, asking about his career, interests, hobbies, and personality. It meant so much to know he cared about J as a person and a patient.

Throughout his ships, he walked us through everything he was doing and answered all questions. He supported our entire family, getting to know us and offering encouragement as we navigated decisions. On the days he was not assigned to J, he routinely checked in on our family and his progress. After J woke up, Zakary invested in him even more and went out of his way to check on him. We were truly blessed by him and his care for my husband. The passion he has for this job is evident, and we were completely confident in his medical and professional guidance and care.
