Our 6-year-old daughter was in a car accident with her dad in Midland. She had abdominal bleeding and a brain bleed and was airlifted to Covenant Children’s Hospital. She underwent surgery and was in the PICU for two nights. During both nights, Zane was our nurse. He was a light for us during a very scary time. He was great with our daughter, went above and beyond for her needs, and was incredibly reassuring to us as parents. He made sure she was comfortable, wasn’t scared, and was constantly making all of us chuckle.

My daughter really is not a people person, however she was actually upset when we finally got moved out of PICU because of how safe and taken care of she felt where we were. Zane demonstrated his nursing skills and knowledge by discussing medications and procedures. It was very apparent he was comfortable operating as an RN in the PICU. It was very reassuring to have a nurse like Zane who explained everything going on step by step in detail and happily answered any questions we had. I couldn’t have asked for a better nurse to love and take care of our child during that time. My husband, also an RN with 11 years of experience, was very impressed with Zane’s bedside manner, compassion, and nursing knowledge. Zane truly was the hands and feet of Jesus and gave us peace and comfort that my husband and I will always remember and be grateful
