Zoe showed us such kindness and compassion.
I had an urgent c-section. Our baby, M, had a lot of anomalies, and we weren’t sure whether or not she would survive outside of utero. When she was born, the NICU team was able to stabilize her, and she was transported to the NICU. Our whole team at UNM collaborated together to ensure that I could get down to see her as soon as possible after surgery.
After hearing her prognosis, which was way worse than anyone anticipated, we opted for comfort care. Zoe was M’s nurse and took such incredible care of her during her short life here on Earth. My husband and I were able to love and hold our baby, which was a gift that we’ll never take for granted. Zoe showed us such kindness and compassion. She was such a comforting presence and treated our baby with dignity and care. After M passed, Zoe helped me get footprints and a locket of her hair. She made sure that we had all the keepsakes that we wanted to remember M. I just can’t say enough good things about Zoe. She is a kind, compassionate, empathetic nurse. We are forever grateful.
